Do You See What I See? Death Company part 3

Coming up on the eve of this commission.  Have to admit this had been a damn fun ride.  Almost don't want it to end.

Seriously do you see what I see?

JJ painting, this is a Warhammer 40k Blood Angels Death Company commission for Tallarn.

Not much left to do with these models.  Little accents here and there.  Paint the wings and eyes and they are done.  Can probably be done with these Wed.  Definitely Thurs.  Would be nice to wrap these up quick and get them back to Tallarn inside of a month.

I LOVE these moments. This is umpteenth time I've seen this.  Some detail escapes my notice when I'm painting that section.  Heading right back to the table to correct it.  Should I remember I'll take a pic of this guy again so you can see what I missed.

Should've ignored my idea for painting the power sword.  Looks good though.

What did I see?  A heart.  Perhaps, the bleeding heart of Sanguinis after Horus threw him to the floor.  Wet pallets are fun.

  1. Very cool!
Personally, I really like the way you've painted the power sword blade. Just my opinion, but if you did more to the blade it might not look as good. At first I thought of gold for the wing on the sword, but then white would be better as a contrast to the blue blade and black armour.

What were you thinking for the wings?

    1. Thanks, Tamati.

Will be painting all the wings with a Fenris Grey base then Vallejo Ghost Grey instead of white. First time using Ghost Grey as a highlight. Used Army Painter Mat White as a highlight. Planning on moving away from using pure white as a highlight. I'll find out later how it turns out.

  2. Those are looking fantastic - great work, man!

Good call on steering clear of pure white. I swear by ghost grey m'self!

    1. Thanks, Mordian7th.

Actually Vallejo Ghost Grey instead of white is from you. Read a comment of yours on a blog. Someone suggested for you to only use white as an extreme highlight. Your comment mentioned that you use Ghost Grey. When it is next to other colours it looks white. Thanks for making that comment. Hope I have the success that you did.
