Dire Avengers Completed

It has been a few weeks since I've been able to get to the table.  Glad I was able to finish these guys.

Abaddon Black for Shuriken Catapults.

JJ painting, this is a Warhammer 40k Eldar Dire avengers commission for Shawn.

Reaper Surf Aqua for clothe and Dire Avenger glyph.

Last week I learned quite a bit about colour.  Wasn't expecting to, sure glad I did.  Some of my highlights have been too bright.  Fixed that with this squad.  4:1 Regal Blue and Fenris Grey.  Fenris was too light.  Should've mixed it with a darker blue at lower ratio.

Close up of highlight on shoulders, backpack, other armour pieces.  Looks much better to me.

Shimmershield and Power axed drybrushed Ironbreaker.  Handle Abaddon Black.  Ice Blue heavy drybrush on axe blades.

Caliban Green base.

3:1 Caliban Green and Goblin Green.  Should've used a darker green than Goblin.  Also need to work with the flow of the banner more.

Reaper Surf Aqua for Shawn's Craftworld symbol.  Painted upside down, way he likes it.

Breathing life into the model.  Flash Gits Yellow for eyes.

  1. Cool work!
Really like the choice of colours. For some reason they make me think of Tron.

    1. Thanks, Tamati. Checked out your blog a couple of times and it wasn't available. Was wondering what happened. Glad to see you're doing ok.

Appreciate the compliment. Shawn said he liked how the first set of Dire Avengers turned out and wanted something like it but not as fancy. I believe someone made the same comment about the first set. Always liked the Tron scheme.

    2. Computer trouble. My computer is getting very old. I've a new blog now so back in business.

The "Tron Scheme" really suits the Eldar. Can't imagine any other race pulling it off.

    3. That super stinks. Added your new blog to the roll.

Now you have me thinking. Perhaps brighter, sharper blues could really make the Tron scheme pop.
