List is still under construction.
Couple of thoughts on the list.
Didn't bother buying any vehicle upgrades for War Walkers. Their armour is so flimsy figured it was a complete waste of points.
Falcon comes in at 200 points with Shuriken Cannon, Bright Lance, Holo-fields and Spirit Stones. Considering ditching it for another Wraithlord and 10 Guardians.
Also considering dropping the Fire Prism for a third Wraithlord. Really footdar the army. It will be like my Eldar army back in 2nd ed. (Footdar is an Eldar army that moves across the table on its own feet 6" movement not using any transports.)
I'm heavily considering copying Shawn by arming my War Walkers with Scatter Lasers. There would be 60 points left over. Could buy more Guardians with that or some Aspect Warriors. Really like those Star Cannons though. That Ap 2 is damn good against Terminators.
If I drop the Harlequin's Fusion Pistols with above changes will have enough for 10 Guardians with another Bright Lance.
Onto deployment tactics.
Eldrad loses all his powers and rolls off Telepathy table in hopes of getting Invisibility. Something Natfka has mentioned a couple of times regarding chance. Specifically seizing initiative: Don't count on it. Same goes for rolling a table for the power. There's a one in three chance of not getting the power. Have to be prepared for this eventuality.
I'll be placing Eldrad with Olonora and her Warlocks. Eldrad will be up front with a Warlock immediately behind him. Then another Warlock behind that one. The point is to make an arrow pointing at the enemy so Eldrad is the closest model. That ensures the wound pool is assigned to him. Then Look Out, Sir! as often as needed. That would be when a double toughness strength weapon lands.
Details on psychic tactics.
Eldrad casts Invisibility on squad. Making Conceal Warlock 5+ cover save 2+ in the open. Farseer casts Fortune on squad to re-roll that failed cover or invul save.
Pupper Master is just plain fun. Suijin told me about this game where someone used Puppet Master on a Vindicar Assassin to destroy a Land Raider. That just sounds fun.
Harlistar time.
Now behind the seer council arrow you have your Harlequins. This is something I mentioned in a post about Harlistar 2+ cover in open sometime ago. Specifically I was suggesting to use Guardians to screen the Harlequins. Turns out Fritz's idea works perfectly. Shadowseer's Veil of Tears gives the Harlequins a 2+ cover save when enemy is shooting through Seer Council at Harlequins. Unfortunately Farseer can't caust Fortune twice. The Harlequins won't be able to re-roll their saves but they shouldn't get too much attention until it's too late.
Now the rest of the army.
Considering having one solid front. Within 6" of the Farseer will be War Walkers so she can cast Guide on them. Wraithlord with in wrath sight range. That should potentionally provide target saturation. Still not sure abou that.
slainte mhath
p.s. I really have to slow down and take a breath. Thanks again, Anon 5:11pm.
You can't overwatch with Destructor, read your codex FAQ. Maybe keep one or two Destructor for utility, and drop the rest to save points.
ReplyDeleteThe vehicle upgrades on the Falcon are a waste. Stones only affect one result on a pen, and Holo doesn't save a hull point. Drop these.
Prisms should be taken in pairs or not at all. Swap this for a second Wraithlord.
You have four Heavy choices.
You desperately need more Troops.
Anon 5:11pm, great schooling. Damn that is what I get for not going over the list. Thank you.
DeleteGreat catch regarding the FAQ
Q: Can you use a Warlock's Destructor power when resolving
Overwatch? (p28)
A: No.
Anon 5:11pm. Sound advice all around. Kudos, Sir.

Feeling quite humbled.
You know, Anon 5:11pm. I like you. Please keep pointing these things out.
