Mage Hunter Infiltrators part 2

These guys are going far faster than the test model.  Quite weird.

JJ painting, this is a Warmachine Retribution of Scyrah Mage Hunter Infiltrator commission for Sean.

Painting the shoulder pads white is challenging.  Decided to do all the shoulder pads first.  Then hit the rest of the white armour bits.  Get that grrr part out of the way quick.

Some of you might remember the test model.  Green didn't turn out too well.  Looked over the instructions for the green from the previous artist.

Version 1.2.  Painted to the specifications.  We weren't provided the correct green or basecoat.  Continued to plug away at it.

Version 1.3.  Little better.  Still something's off.  Specifically base coat.  I know for sure one of three colours provided from the previous artist is right.  Other two doubt it.  Damn this is challenging.

Version 1.4.  Figured out the base coat.  However the final layer of green is clearly off.  Instructions given.  Ordic Olive base.  1:1 Ordic Olive and Iosan Green.  Iosan Green.  Light Brown wash.  What I figured out, after A LOT of mixing colours and previous versions, is that the base coat is actually 1:1 Bloodtracker Brown and Iosan Green.  Not sure about Ordic Olive.  Definitely some sort of light brown wash.  Figured out which brown to use.  Just need the two colours in between.  Thoughts?

  1. I don't know how to exactly fix your green tone issue...but the model looks 100x better with the green loincloth tying the hood colors together.

I'd suggest finding a test model, painting just the green on it, and trying different washes to see how they effect the tones.

    1. Thanks. It was Sean's make the loin clothe green to help tie it in with the hood. Agreed it was a good call.
