Orikan the Diviner, my Necron Warlord part 1

Done with Eldar.  Shawn has some more for me to paint.  Fortunately he hasn't handed them to me yet so I can work on putting together models for my current Necron list.  Picked up Orikan a couple of weeks and he's been screaming for attention.  Finally giving him some.  Didn't give him as much attention as he deserved tonight.  Should be able to remedy that tomorrow.  Will be done with him by Sat.

How to Base

Since I'm basing Shawn's Eldar figured I'd make "How to" a basing post.  Pretty sure I already have one of these.  This one certainly cannot hurt.

Here we have everything we need to base.  Edible glue.  A container or two of basing material.  An olde destroyed paint brush "even in death, service does not end."  You'll notice another container.

Detail and Basing or Light at the end of the tunnel

As Spyrle said.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Haven't been handed another set of Eldar to paint so this is the light at the end of this tunnel.  If there's another tunnel it won't be nearly as long.  Finished one month ahead of schedule!  Quite happy.  Curious if I should try to use that as a "bonus" for more Grey Knights.  /tapping points of fingers together

Eldar Rangers part 1

Last squad to paint before detail work.  After these are skimmers and war walkers canopy supports.  Then Craftworld glyph on Wraithlord and Skimmers.

How to remove Water Transfers, Decals.

Shawn wanted me to take off the decals on his Wraithlords.  Told him I can do that.  Showed him the symbol the loin clothe.  He asked if I could paint that symbol on the other dreadnought, err Wraithlord.  Told him I can put the symbol on his skimmers also.  He gave me the a-okay. We now have a symbol for his Craftworld.  I'm considering a name.  So far I've come up with Salneel.  Little bit of a spin-off from my Craftworld's name.  I want "el" to to be the last part of the name.  "el" means Son of.  Suggestions?

Eldar Phoenix Lords: Baharroth, Jain-Zar and Asurman

Time for Phoenix Lords.  Shawn had this one special ordered it and handed it to me last Sat.

How to Pin

Standing humble like any appropriate tool.  It requires no praise nor reward.  It is ready whenever its need.

My favourite tool

Eldar Jetbikes Completed

These guys only took me a hour and half.  They were quick.  Of course only having three to paint with no detail helps tons.

How to Paint White

After our RPG Friday night we were talking 40k.  Specifically I was asking Wade about his commission work.  Mostly to get a feel what I should charge for my own commission work.  During the conversation someone mentioned painting white can be hard.  I agreed it can be hard and provided some information how painting white can be easy.  Just have to make sure you plan ahead.

Here are my tools for painting white.  Wet pallet.  Container purchased from Blick.  Sponge, same place and Acrylic paper, same place.  Olde brush and Skull White.  Including paint whole thing should cost about 20$.  Dose sponge and acrylic paper in water.  Pour out excess.  Then place white onto wet paper.  Since I'm pulling from a Citadel paint pot the brush helps.

Eldar Shining Spears Completed

Last where we left off.

Eldar Warp Spiders Completed [Update]

Finally a good session to get some work done.  Not that 6 hrs is any different than 5.  Just feels like I spent quality time at the table.  Also finally started and finished a squad in the time I was expecting.  4 hrs.

Had to prime these guys twice.  Guess I didn't all the spots the first time.  Primed with Prime Colour Uniform Grey from army painter.

Refusing a Challenge, Heroic Stand & Characters

Was talking about 40k after our RPG ended.  Surprise, surprise we ended up talking about a 6th ed rule that wasn't interpreted the same way between myself and another.

Specifically this is about refusing challenges and who can or cannot attack.

Flyers arrive at H2Lat40k!

Mail guy dropped off my package from ebay!  Thanked him profusely.

Can see Nightbringer on the right approving this addition to the army

Eldar Shining Spears part 1

Yes!  Finally started, finished one squad and started a second.  Will need to work on speed of painting if I'm going to continue this commission business.

12.10.20 1275 Necrons vs Chaos Space Marines

Finally another 40k battle.  It has been a while since I've rolled them bones with Bryan.  I miss him.  I believe Bryan and I have a new philosophy on playing 40k .  Some of you may not approve.  Personally it speaks to me as an individual.

Completely forgot about Look Out, Sir!  Still stuck in 5th ed.

Eldar Fire Dragons part 1

Shawn's next priority.  As he told me on Sat: Aspect Warriors.  Damn it.  Just when I thought I was going to do the hardest part last.  Its been pushed to the front.

Exalted Seeker Chariot

Saturday night Shawn bought this and wanted me to put together.  I believe he actually said to his boy "I'm going to have JJ put this together so you guys won't screw it up."

What a chore this model was.  Are looking to be involved, I mean Really Involved, in putting a model together.  That includes removing flash.  Look no further.  Buy this limited edition or two Seeker Chariot/Hellflayer of Slaanesh and enjoy the misery many of us purposely go out of our way to avoid.  Buying two of those are the same cost as buying one limited edition.

That being said.  It is an extremely beautiful model.  I'd say sexy.  Would marry it but I'm afraid of what our children would look like.  Onto the pics!

Witchblade, and Singing Spears, and Murekhs! Oh my! Part 1

Have to say this is my favourite squad so far to work on so far.  Perhaps because it's breezing by.  Perhaps because I feel there's a synergy to them.  Makes me want to buy a couple more Warlocks and paint up a Farseer with Warlocks.  Seriously this squad is fun.

12.8.15 Swooping Hawks

Last nights work.

Modelling/Painting Space

Here are pics from Oct.  Wow, I've been modelling/painting there for almost 10 months now.

This is where I used to paint.  Six tables.  Four lights.  Can sit six.  Most I saw was five.  Stopped going because people would leave their modelling stuff out or put their army cases all over it.  Instead of stressing about it everytime.  I decided to do something about it.  I can either A) try to change the situation (highly unlikely because there are so many modellers/players that do it or B) change how I react to it.  Which I did.  Then it occurred to me.  I can paint at home.  Then I won't have to pack stuff up, potentially forgetting something, and drive there.  It's not that far away.  Plus can I drink while painting!

Modelling tables at Fantasy Flight.  That is Dave the big chief at Fantasy Flight.

Great news.  Dave, above photo, has added one more table and two more stations.  Looks really good.  Great job, Dave!

This is going to get ugly.  Please don't click on the link to see more.  You don't want to make baby Jesus cry.

40k 6th ed Lexicon v1.2

Lexicon Tuesday.  There's great deal of information about 40k all over the web.  Many of it uses short hand to communicate a message.  I'm compiling a lexicon to help me decipher what they mean.  Warseer is great that it has the terms linked to what they can mean.  I endeavour to copy their method in the future.  In the mean time I hope you learn as much as I do if not more.

Tasha, Suijin, Anon, Spyrle and Vargna have provided entries.  If you'd like to provide some make a comment.  Will update this post and put credit where its deserved.

12.8.9 Eldar Falcon & Wave Serpent

Time to let my drug dealer dictate policy.  Sincerely, thank you for letting me blog.  I mean that literally.  Thank you.  I deeply appreciate it.

Last nights work.

12.8.8 Eldar Falcon & Wave Serpent

Last nights work.

Rules of the Game 12.7.24 & 12.8.4

Third and fifth game of 6th ed.  Couple of things to remember for next time.

"No cheating this time.  It's ten steps forward then turn.  Not follow me for ten steps."

12.8.7 Eldar Falcon and Wave Serpent

Last where we left off.

12.8.4 1850 Necrons vs Chaos Daemons a.k.a. Why roll 4 or 5 when all you need is 3?

Fifth game of sixth edition and getting familiar with the rules.

12.8.5 Kaela Mensha Khaine

Last where we left off with our solo warrior.

6th ed Necron 1850 army list v1.2

Wanted to share some tactics of my army.  a.k.a. bored and trying to occupy my time.

12.8.2 Kaela Mensha Khaine

This is outside of my norm.  I usually paint characters last or first.  There's a priority of painting these models.  Have to let go of my outcome.

First you should know this is a copy.  Saw an excellently painted Avatar over a year ago and was in awe of it.  I want to paint one similarly.  Shawn wants his Avatar and Eldrad to be good.  Going to try something new with this model but not push myself to make it excellent.

Base-coated with Black.

With flash.  Trying something new.

12.7.31 Eldar Wraithlords

Finished War Walkers.  Time to start Dreadnoughts.  err Wraithlords.

Shawn started these models awhile ago.  As you can see he already had an idea of what colours he wanted for his Eldar.  Thought about posting these with the Fire Prism to show the inspiration for the Craftworld colours.
